The most famous synthetic voice ever definitely belongs to the late Dr Stephen Hawking. His voice, for so many years was created by a computer. Allowing him, for years to communicate, teach and inform those around him.
For many, that is the baseline for a synthetic voice. However that technology has advanced so far it can be compared to night and day since Dr Hawking.
The company Sonantic have developed their text to speech protocols to allow not only emotion, but timbre and speed to the person's voice.
It was famously (and quietly) used only recently in the Hollywood blockbuster - Top Gun: Maverick and it allowed the actor Val Kilmer, who had lost his own voice due to cancer several years before to still command a performance.
A technology not only for movies though. A fantastic innovation, that if brought to the consumer level could give so many their voices back, literally.
