Can you imagine creating an artwork such as Dali, Picasso, Turner or Van Gogh?
No? That's okay!
However, if you were to type "Golden Retriever in the style of Dali" into OpenMind's DALL-E 2 then that is exactly what you would get.
Designed to create images from text using AI, it has taken the internet by storm recently from the myriad of images it can create. Anything in the minds eye and all without the stroke of a brush.
It seems like an ingenious way for people to stretch their creativity without years of practice behind them.
With a million people on the waitlist for DALL-E 2, and it only opening its beta phase. It's hard to quantify just what and how it can change, but artists need not quake in their boots just yet.
That being said, a more nefarious thinking is borne from OpenMind having to put strong safeguards on the creation of deepfakes on the platform. Which can only give us thought that soon, we may not always trust what we see.
"Seeing is believing, or so the saying goes. These AI image generators are amazing, but is it only a matter of time before people are having their faces duplicated by similar?"
