Disabilities As Superpowers!

Imagine a clinically approved, affordable, 3D printed bionic hand.

It sounds like something from the future. A time where anyone who has suffered a hand injury is not left to struggle alone, who can regain use of their arm.

Open Bionics have decided that it not something for the future, it is something for now.

They have created their “Hero Arm” to help assist and enhance user capabilities. Claiming to be the most affordable multi-grip bionic arm ever, the startup is pricing their product at less than half the price of their nearest competitor.

Founded in 2014 by Joel Gibbard, who at age 17 started exploring and developing 3D prosthetics and robotic hands fuelled by a fascination in their movements. Working alongside Samantha Payne to created Open Bionics, the pair have both been awarded MBEs by the Queen’s for their work in making bionic technology more accessible and their services to Innovation.

This innovation aimed at children currently have partnerships with companies such as Disney to create covers and designs for the Hero Arm to theme the prosthetics around the Marvel, Star Wars and Frozen universes in a way to help children feel like superheroes.
