Could Samung’s GEMS exoskeleton change the lives of those who need it most?
Coined as the “Gait enhancing and motivation system” there are three variations of this wearable for the hip, the knee and the ankle.
Targeted towards the elderly and those who face mobility issues.
Samsung tasked themselves to create “an exoskeleton that does more than just improve people’s ability to talk”
Which, of course it does magnificently by enabling walking assistance and resistance for those who need it and help them to improve overall balance and strength.
GEMS has also been developed to allow the resistance aspect to provide users not only with assistance, but with different workouts unique to the individuals needs to set and achieve personal fitness goals.
By increasing this aspect, Samsung believe their concept is more inclusive, allowing them to cater to a wider audience whilst still using artificial intelligence within the GEMS system to help improve stability while reducing energy used, which is game-changing for those learning to rehabilitate an injury, or simply help those who are in need of walking assistance that doesn’t come from a cane.
