Mastercard, still showcasing their research in dragging the financial sector into the future are currently trialling biometric payments in Brazil, paying by a smile or a wave in hopes of spreading adoption to Europe and Asia soon
Working via installing an app on your phone, linking your biometric details (fingerprint or face image) and linking it alongside a credit or debit card. Mastercard view this as a global technology, allowing you to pay using your standard bank account anywhere in the world.
Payment by a handwave is something from a sci-fi movie, and having it being trialled is amazing. However, how many people would actually adopt this, rather than the status quo of a bank card?
